Medusa is a beautiful monster that I have adored since childhood.  The best-known story of Medusa comes from the Roman poet Ovid. Medusa was seduced by Neptune (Poseidon) in a temple to Minerva (Athena), and in revenge, Minerva turned Medusa's beautiful head of hair into snakes. As she was both mortal and had the ability to turn men to stone, Perseus was sent to cut off her head.

She is symbolic of both feminine strength and resilience. She is a heroine for many survivors of trauma.

These pieces began as full 3 dimensional sculpted head.  The sculpting was done in a program called Zbrush.

She took over 50 hours to sculpt.

Once she was made bas relief and placed in her coin, she was 3D printed in a wax resin, which was then cast in sterling silver using lost wax technique.
